For our client we are currently looking for an experienced Quality Assurance Engineer who would like to work in a dynamic and international environment. We are searching for an experienced QA engineer that is both methodological and creative. As a QA engineer you will help the software team, with your broad knowledge of technologies and frameworks, to make their open source solutions just that little bit better.

Because of the major impact of Open Standards on Content Management & Portal technology, they are actively involved in the specification of several Java Specification Request (JSR) standards. Our client has a vast number of employees participating in open source projects within the Apache Software Foundation. This role will give you the opportunity to work closely with some open source veterans and to pimp your open source resume.

Tasks and responsibilities:

• Develop and execute test plans and test cases based upon functional and design specifications;
• Develop and maintain automated test suites;
• Participate actively in functional, platform and regression testing activities;
• Work closely with the development team to analyze, debug and resolve issues;
• Participate in product functional reviews, test specifications and documentation reviews;
• Runs evaluations effectively and drive the closure of all open issues on time;
• Able to estimate and perform risk analysis for large features;
• Organize own tasks and takes responsibility for progress and completion. Understands and manages priorities;
• Handle 1-2 large tasks as well as a handful of smaller issues at one time;
• Pro-actively suggests and drives improvements to existing development process;
• Keep management well-informed and provide status across the organization;
• Ensures high quality of all development work.

Qualifications:

• University degree;
• 5+ years of software testing experience;
• Testing experience with web based applications;
• Programming experience with QA tools, e.g. Selenium;
• Must have a strong knowledge of QA processes and methodologies
• Strong working knowledge in Unix/Windows environments;
• Familiar with JAVA programming and JavaScript;
• Working experience with different types of application servers and web servers, installed on different OS;
• Moderate knowledge in writing SQL scripts for RDBMS, e.g. creating a database;
• Good attention to detail, you miss nothing;
• Ability to rise above detail to see broader issues and implications for whole product or team;
• Utilize analytical skills in determining the root cause of problems;
• Demonstrates ability to multi-task and re-prioritize responsibilities based on changing requirements (such as urgent customer problems);
• Excellent problem solving, analytical and technical troubleshooting skills;
• Fluent in English and door understanding of the Dutch language would be a plus
